Centre of Expertise for Participation and Influencing

Youth Work Centre of Expertise for Participation and Influencing in 2020-2023 comprises the Youth Academy, the Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland, the Development Centre Opinkirjo, and the City of Oulu administrated Koordinaatti. The Youth Academy is the administrative body of the Youth Work Centre of Expertise for Participation and Influencing and in charge of the entity of the Centre of Expertise activities.

The Youth Work Centre of Expertise for Participation and Influencing supports officeholders, decision-makers and adults working with young people in enhancing youth inclusion in their line of work and involving young people in social development and decision-making.

The National Youth Work and Youth Policy Programme defines the objectives for the Youth Work Centre of Expertise for Participation and Influencing as follows:

  1. Promote young people’s social participation and opportunities for exerting influence at national level, with specific consideration for vulnerable young people (Youth Academy and the Union of Local Youth Councils in Finland),
  2. Regenerate and promote awareness of digital tools as the channels of exerting influence for young people (Koordinaatti),
  3. Further develop and promote awareness of the quality standards for youth participation, and guarantee sufficient support for the implementation (Opinkirjo) and
  4. Investigate youth extremism and involvement in extremist movements (Opinkirjo).
